CreditAccess Grameen has reported robust year-over-year growth in its second-quarter operational update, demonstrating continued business momentum despite some seasonal and environmental headwinds. The company announced a 33% increase in disbursements for the quarter ending in September and a 27% rise for the first half of fiscal year 2026. This growth is supported by significant network expansion, with the addition of 150 new branches, 96 of which were opened in the second quarter alone. Furthermore, the company expanded its customer base by adding 440,000 new borrowers in the first half of the year, with 220,000 added in the latest quarter.
However, the company's shares experienced a slight downturn, trading 0.6% lower at ₹1,391. This reaction appears to be influenced by a minor 2.3% sequential decrease in disbursements and a temporary increase in the portfolio at risk (PAR) for loans overdue by more than 15 days. The company attributes the rise in PAR to the impact of heavy rains and floods in its operating regions and anticipates improvement in the coming months. Notably, there has been an uptick in the PAR 15+ ratio in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, which stood at 0.46% in September, up from 0.34% in June.
Despite these short-term challenges, CreditAccess Grameen's stock has shown a strong performance year-to-date, with a 56% gain, reflecting investor confidence in the company's long-term growth trajectory. The company's employee base has also grown, from 21,333 in June to 21,701 in September, indicating continued investment in its operational capacity.#WatchOutFor#FundamentalViews#Post-ClosingCommentary#HiddenGems#EquityResearch
