CYIENT
Cyient Ltd., an engineering and technology services firm, reported its financial results for the second quarter ended September 30, 2025 (Q2 FY2026), revealing a significant year-over-year (YoY) decline in profitability, primarily driven by weaker demand and margin pressure.
The company recorded a net profit of ₹127.5 crore, a sharp decrease of 28.8% compared to ₹179 crore in the prior-year period. Revenue from operations also saw a moderate decline, falling 3.7% YoY to ₹1,781 crore. This impact on the top line was exacerbated at the operating level, with EBIT dropping 36.4% to ₹146.7 crore. Consequently, the operating margin contracted notably to 8.2%, down from 12.5% in Q2 FY2025.
The core challenge stems from broad-based margin pressure, most pronounced within the flagship Design-Led Engineering Business (Cyient DET). Despite DET revenue remaining largely flat at $164.4 million in U.S. dollar terms, its EBIT margin declined to 12.2% from 13.7% a year earlier. Management attributed the results to operational headwinds, higher costs, and macroeconomic uncertainties, noting that Q2 is often a seasonally softer quarter.
Positive Indicators and Strategic Confidence
Despite the immediate headwinds, the board declared an interim dividend of ₹16 per share, signaling confidence in the company's long-term financial health. Furthermore, the DET segment demonstrated strong operational efficiency, with a Free Cash Flow to PAT conversion of 114%, supported by improved working capital management and cost optimization initiatives.
The semiconductor division showed sequential momentum, with Q2 revenue rising 12.3% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) to $6.2 million. However, this segment continues to be a drag on profitability, reporting deeper losses with EBIT at -$2.7 million.#Budget2025#FundamentalViews#Post-ClosingCommentary#HiddenGems#EquityResearch
