The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) has approved procurement proposals worth ₹79,000 crore on Thursday, October 23, poised to significantly benefit select defense sector stocks. This substantial procurement across the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force is expected to translate into considerable order inflows for key defense contractors. Indian Army Procurements: Nag Missile System (NAMIS) Mk-II: Bharat Dynamics (BDL) is a likely beneficiary, potentially securing orders of approximately ₹2,000 crore. Ground-based Mobile ELINT System (GBEMS): Bharat Electronics (BEL) and Astra Micro are anticipated to benefit from the acquisition of this electronic intelligence system. High Mobility Vehicles (HMVs): BEML is highlighted as a potential beneficiary. Indian Navy Procurements: Landing Platform Docks (LPD): Shipbuilding companies, including Mazagon Dock, Garden Reach Shipbuilders, Cochin Shipyard, and L&T, stand to gain significantly from orders estimated up to ₹60,000 crore. 30 mm Naval Surface Gun (NSG): BHEL and Garden Reach Shipbuilders are potential beneficiaries. BHEL is also noted as a potential supplier for smart ammunition for the 76 mm Super Rapid Gun Mount. Advanced Light Weight Torpedoes: BDL could receive orders ranging from ₹500 crore to ₹1,000 crore. Electro Optical Infra-Red Search and Track System: BEL, Astra Micro, and Data Patterns are positioned to secure orders for this system. These approvals underscore the government's continued focus on defense modernization and indigenization, providing a strong growth outlook for the identified defense stocks. The Nifty India Defence Index has demonstrated positive momentum, reflecting the sector's strengthening fundamentals.
