Trent Q3 FY26 Performance: Strategic Resilience Amid Valuation Correction

TRENT
Trent Ltd. (TRENT), the retail flagship of the Tata Group, reported its Q3 FY26 results on February 4, 2026. While the company delivered a notable surprise on the operating front, the stock experienced a 1.5% intraday decline on February 5 as institutional analysts flagged concerns regarding growth sustainability and premium valuations. Financial Highlights: The Operational Surprise Despite a challenging discretionary environment, Trent demonstrated strong execution: EBITDA: Reported at ₹1,081 crore (up 27.6% YoY), significantly exceeding the street estimate of ₹1,000 crore. Revenue: Consolidated revenue from operations rose 14.8% YoY to ₹5,345 crore, driven by aggressive store expansion. Profitability: Standalone PAT surged 36% YoY to ₹640 crore, though consolidated PAT growth was more modest at 3.1% (₹513 crore). Operating EBIT Margin: Improved to 13.8% from 13.2% in the year-ago period. Strategic Business Vertical Updates Fashion (Zudio & Westside): The portfolio remains the primary growth engine. However, Like-for-Like (LFL) growth for fashion was marginally negative this quarter, attributed to the festive season shift. Star Business (Grocery): Now features a high 74% contribution from own brands. Management has committed to accelerating the Star store expansion to counter intense competition in the food space. Emerging Segments: Beauty & Personal Care, Innerwear, and Footwear now contribute over 21% of the company’s total topline.
