Shapoor Mistry Eyes ₹25,000 Cr from Tata Stake
Shapoor Mistry, chairman of the Shapoorji Pallonji Group, is seeking around ₹25,000 crore over the next two years by monetising part of the group’s stake in Tata Sons. The SP Group holds an estimated 18.37% in the unlisted holding company and aims to sell about 7% of its holding.
Mistry has submitted a proposal to Tata Trusts chairman Noel Tata. The structure under discussion would provide cash proceeds over a defined period while helping preserve Tata Sons’ private-company status. Talks continue between the two sides on valuation, quantum and timing.
The move is aimed at addressing the group’s near-term funding and refinancing requirements. A successful transaction would unlock significant liquidity for the Shapoorji Pallonji Group while maintaining an orderly process for the stake reduction.
