At the opening bell, ten of the thirteen major sectoral indices posted marginal gains, but the upside lacked conviction. Broader indices like midcaps and smallcaps edged up by around 0.1%.
Meanwhile, U.S. stock futures dipped and oil prices moved slightly higher, as the Israel-Iran standoff entered its fifth day, stoking fears of a wider regional conflict.
Reports indicate that President Trump cut short his participation in the G7 summit in Canada, citing intensifying Middle East unrest. He reiterated that Iran had missed a crucial opportunity by not agreeing to the nuclear deal with the U.S.
