Shares Drop 4% After Q4 Profit Slips; Asset Quality Strengthens

fell over 4% to an intraday low of ₹128.58 on the NSE following the announcement of its Q4 FY26 results. The stock later traded at ₹130, down 3.25% from the previous close of ₹134.34, while the Nifty50 declined 1%. The lender reported a standalone net profit of ₹4,505.57 crore for the March 2026 quarter, marking a 9.9% decline from ₹5,002.66 crore in the same period last year. Pre-provision operating profit also dropped 18.4% YoY to ₹6,757.38 crore. However, net interest income (NII) rose 4% YoY to ₹9,808 crore, supported by healthy loan growth. Provisions eased sharply to ₹991.81 crore compared to ₹2,414.36 crore in the December quarter. Asset quality improved during the quarter, with gross NPA declining to 1.84% from 2.08% sequentially, while net NPA improved to 0.43% from 0.45%. Gross NPAs fell to ₹22,740 crore, and net NPAs declined to ₹5,209 crore. The bank reported slippages of ₹2,800 crore in Q4FY26 against ₹1,899 crore in the previous quarter. Business growth remained steady, with global deposits rising 9.7% YoY to ₹15.69 lakh crore and global advances increasing 15.3% YoY to ₹12.38 lakh crore.
