Closing Bell Late-session buying propelled the Sensex up 266 points, while the Nifty hovered near the 25,700 mark FMCG stocks outperformed.

On the sectoral front, the IT index declined 1.5%, while the pharma gauge slipped 0.7%. Auto and PSU bank indices eased 0.5% each. In contrast, the FMCG index surged 2.2%, emerging as the top performer. Oil & gas, consumer durables, private banks, and realty stocks each advanced around 0.5%. Among Nifty constituents,

Indian equity benchmarks settled higher in a volatile trading session on February 6. At the close, the Sensex gained 266.47 points, or 0.32%, to finish at 83,580.40, while the Nifty rose 50.90 points, or 0.20%, to end at 25,693.70.
