Closing Bell: Sensex climbs 700 points, Nifty settles at 25,245; small-cap shares continue upward trend for 4th straight day

The Indian equity markets prolonged their upward momentum for the second day in a row on Wednesday, supported by widespread buying across various sectors, particularly in IT, automobile, and FMCG segments. Market optimism was lifted by the decline in crude oil prices and encouraging global signals, following a de-escalation in geopolitical risks. Among the broader indices, the Nifty MidCap index ended up by 0.44%, and the Nifty SmallCap index advanced 1.5%, marking the fourth consecutive session of gains for small-cap counters.
