Closing Bell: Sensex ends 2,073 points higher on trade-deal euphoria; Nifty tops 25,700. Adani Ports jumps 9%, Bajaj Finance up 7%.

Benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty posted one of their biggest single-day gains, surging up to 4.4% and 4.7% respectively, after India and the United States announced a long-awaited trade deal. The agreement eased tariff-related concerns that had been weighing on Indian markets for months. U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday announced a trade pact with India that reduces U.S. tariffs on Indian goods to 18% from 50%, in exchange for India halting Russian oil purchases and easing certain trade barriers. According to Citi Research, investor concerns regarding the risk of India’s geopolitical isolation have largely subsided following successive trade agreements with the European Union and the United States. Analysts believe the U.S. trade deal will help remove the overhang of foreign capital outflows from Indian equity markets. Closing Bell: Sensex ends 2,073 points higher on trade-deal euphoria; Nifty tops 25,700. Adani Ports jumps 9%, Bajaj Finance up 7%.
