Closing Bell: Sensex Jumps 521 Points, Nifty Ends Above 24,400; Midcap and Smallcap Stocks Extend Gains

Synopsis: The Indian stock market ended on a firm note on Monday, with the Sensex advancing 521 points and the Nifty closing above the 24,400 mark. Broader markets outperformed, while realty, consumer durables, auto, and oil & gas stocks led the sectoral rally. The Realty index led the gains with a 1.8% rise, followed by Consumer Durables (1.5%), Auto (1.3%), and Oil & Gas (1.1%). The Metal index climbed 1%, while the Energy index added 0.7%. On the downside, the Media index emerged as the weakest performer, declining 0.95%, followed by the PSU Bank index, which fell 0.9%, and the IT index, which slipped 0.6%.
