Closing Bell: Sensex jumps 677 points, Nifty reclaims 24,900; ULTRACEMCO , TECHM climb 2% each
Indian equity benchmarks advanced on Monday, bouncing back after two consecutive sessions of declines, even as persistent geopolitical tensions between Israel and Iran continued to weigh on global market sentiment. Despite the rebound, nine out of thirteen major sectoral indices closed in the red, with the broader markets under pressure small-cap and mid-cap indices dropped around 0.7% and 0.5%, respectively. Both Sensex and Nifty had ended the previous week in negative territory, dragged down by escalating geopolitical unrest following Israel's military operations against Iran. The situation further deteriorated over the weekend with renewed hostilities, amplifying investor caution.
