Indian equities closed largely unchanged on Monday, the first trading session of November, as investors paused following the Sensex and Nifty’s strongest monthly rally in seven months. Modest profit-booking after October’s sharp gains was offset by stock-specific moves driven by quarterly earnings, keeping overall market sentiment steady.
Market Overview:
The S&P BSE Sensex edged up 39.78 points, or 0.05%, to close at 83,978.49, while the NSE Nifty 50 added 41.25 points, or 0.16%, to settle at 25,763.35.
On the 30-share Sensex, & Mahindra, , , l, and were among the top gainers, rising between 1% and 2%. On the flip side, Maruti Suzuki, ITC, Services, & Toubro, and declined between 1% and 3.4%.
Broader Markets & Sectors:
Broader indices outperformed, with the BSE Midcap index gaining 0.8% and the Smallcap index rising 0.7%.
Among sectoral indices, PSU banks led the rally with a 1.9% rise, while FMCG and IT stocks eased 0.1% and 0.2%, respectively.
Stock Highlights:
Shriram Finance surged 6% following strong quarterly results.
Tata Consumer Products advanced 2.8% after posting better-than-expected earnings.
Products jumped 5.5%, as analysts maintained a positive outlook for the second half of FY26 despite a profit decline in the September quarter caused by GST-related sales disruptions.
Vodafone Idea rallied 9.3% after a court clarification boosted hopes of relief on its adjusted gross revenue (AGR) dues.
ti Suzuki dropped 3%, weighing on auto sector sentiment.
