Closing Bell | Sensex Sheds 636 Points, Nifty Ends Below 24,550; Realty Stocks Outperform
Indian equity markets extended losses for a third straight session on Tuesday, June 3, with benchmark indices closing sharply lower. The BSE Sensex fell 636 points, or 0.78%, to settle at 80,737.51, while the Nifty50 declined 174 points, or 0.70%, to close at 24,542.50.
Sectoral Highlights:
The broader market showed mixed trends. The BSE MidCap index slipped 0.5%, while the SmallCap index ended flat.
Among sectors, the Nifty Realty index was the standout performer, gaining 1%. In contrast, indices tracking Banks, Capital Goods, Consumer Durables, IT, Oil & Gas, Power, Private Banks, and PSU Banks declined between 0.5% and 1%.
