Currency and Global Outlook

Indian Rupee: The rupee appreciated for the third consecutive session, closing at 85.6775 against the U.S. dollar, up 0.1%. The currency's gains were attributed to global concerns over new U.S. tariffs, which weakened the dollar and prompted a flight to safe-haven assets like gold and the Swiss franc. Global Market Sentiment: Amid global market instability spurred by U.S. President Donald Trump's unpredictable tariff policies, Indian and global investors are seeking safer investment options. India's emphasis on domestic economic growth and relatively insulated market is proving to be a compelling alternative. While foreign investors sold $4 billion in Indian stocks this month, domestic institutions continued to invest, cushioning the market. Analysts favor sectors less exposed to international volatility, including banking, power, telecoms, autos, and consumer goods.
