February 1 Budget turns Sunday into a trading day for stock market participants; BSE and NSE unveil special schedule
Synopsis Union Budget 2026: In an unusual move, India’s leading stock exchanges—BSE and NSE—have announced that equity markets will remain operational on Sunday, February 1, to coincide with the presentation of the Union Budget by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Given the significance of the Budget announcement, the exchanges have opted to suspend the usual weekend closure, allowing investors and traders to respond in real time to policy measures and fiscal announcements. The pre-open session will be conducted from 9:00 am to 9:08 am, followed by regular market trading hours from 9:15 am to 3:30 pm. Investment in securities market are subject to market risks.
