India Has Sufficient Energy Reserves Amid Israel-Iran Tensions: Minister Puri

Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri stated on Friday that India holds ample energy reserves to meet demand in the coming months, even as geopolitical tensions between Israel and Iran escalate. Following a strategic review with the Petroleum Secretary and heads of major energy PSUs, Puri emphasized that India’s energy policy under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership prioritizes availability, affordability, and sustainability. Crude oil prices briefly spiked over 13% after overnight strikes, hitting the highest levels since January, before easing to an 8% gain with Brent crude trading near $75 per barrel.
