Indian Markets Slide Sharply: Nifty Falls Below 26,000, Sensex Drops 800 Points

The Nifty 50 dropped nearly 270 points to 25,868, slipping below 26,000, while the Sensex declined about 780 points to 84,180. The Bank Nifty lost over 300 points, ending at 59,674. Broader markets underperformed, with mid- and small-cap indices down around 2%. The decline was driven by renewed Russia-related sanctions fears, continued foreign investor selling, weak commodity prices, revived trade war concerns, and heightened geopolitical tensions. Sectorally, power, energy, metals, oil & gas, infrastructure, IT, and PSU stocks led the losses. Global cues were also weak, with European and key Asian markets closing lower, adding to risk-off sentiment. Investment in securities market are subject to market risks.
