Key global indicators to track in today’s session. GIFT Nifty is trading higher near 25,312.50, signaling a gap-up opening for the market.
Indian benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty, are expected to begin January 22 on a strong note, backed by positive signals from GIFT Nifty, which was hovering around the 25,312.50 mark. On January 21, Indian equities extended their decline for a third straight session amid subdued global cues. Concerns over geopolitical tensions related to Greenland and a sharp sell-off in Japanese government bonds weighed heavily on sentiment. Persistent selling pressure pushed the benchmark indices below their 200-day moving averages for the first time in the past eight months. At the close, the Sensex slipped 270.84 points, or 0.33 percent, to 81,909.63, while the Nifty declined 75 points, or 0.30 percent, to settle at 25,157.50. GIFT Nifty’s higher trade near 25,312.50 continues to point toward a positive, gap-up start for the day. Investment in securities market are subject to market risks.
