Market Closure Alert: BSE, NSE to Remain Shut on These Dates Next Week — Check Muhurat Trading Schedule for 2025
The Indian equity markets — Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE) — will observe holidays next week due to Diwali festivities. There is some confusion among investors and traders regarding market operations during Diwali 2025, as different regions in India will celebrate the festival on varying dates. Market Holiday Details: Monday, October 20: Both BSE and NSE will operate as usual from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Tuesday, October 21: Markets will remain closed during regular trading hours in observance of Diwali Laxmi Pujan. Wednesday, October 22: Markets will also remain shut for Diwali Balipratipada. Not just equities, even the currency derivatives segment will remain non-operational on both these days. However, the commodity derivatives and electronic gold receipts (EGR) segments will stay open during the evening session, operating between 5:00 PM and 11:30/11:55 PM on both October 21 and 22. Muhurat Trading 2025 — Special Session Details: As part of the Diwali tradition, Muhurat Trading, a symbolic and auspicious trading window, will be held on Tuesday, October 21, despite the regular market holiday. This year’s session will differ from past practices in terms of timing: Block Deal Window: 1:15 PM to 1:30 PM Pre-Open Session (for IPOs and relisted stocks): 1:30 PM to 2:15 PM Muhurat Trading Session: 1:45 PM to 2:45 PM Traditionally held in the evening, this year's Muhurat session will take place in the afternoon, offering investors an opportunity to initiate symbolic trades for good fortune in the new financial year.
