Indian equity markets closed nearly flat on Thursday as benchmark indices struggled to find clear direction after three straight sessions of decline. Early losses were trimmed, supported by buying interest in IT and financial stocks, which helped stabilize the market. The S&P BSE Sensex declined by 78 points (0.09%) to settle at 84,481.81, while the NSE Nifty 50 inched down just 3 points (0.01%) to close at 25,815.55. Among the 30 Sensex constituents, technology and banking stocks led the gains. Shares of

advanced between 0.6% and 2%. On the downside,
SUNPHARMA
utical Industries, Tata Steel, Power Grid,
ASIANPAINT

NTPC
were the major laggards, declining between 1% and 3%. The broader market showed relative strength, with mid-cap indices rising 0.3% and small-cap stocks edging up 0.1%. The IT sector outperformed, gaining 1.2% to emerge as the top-performing segment of the day. Tata Consultancy Services, India’s largest IT services firm, jumped 2% after announcing a strategic roadmap focused on becoming a global leader in AI-driven technology services. Meanwhile, asset management and brokerage stocks rallied sharply, climbing up to 7%, after the capital markets regulator announced measures to relax norms related to mutual fund fee structures.
