Market Overview: Sensex gains 336 pts, Nifty tops 25,700; BEL, Adani Ports climb 2% each

Indian equities closed higher on Tuesday, with the Sensex and Nifty rebounding from early declines as optimism surrounding a possible trade breakthrough with Washington and the reopening of the U.S. government lifted market sentiment. However, advances were limited by softness in financial counters after Bajaj Finance trimmed its asset growth projection, while volatility increased ahead of the Nifty 50’s weekly derivatives expiry. The S&P BSE Sensex advanced 0.4%, finishing at 83,871.32, up 335.97 points, whereas the NSE Nifty 50 added 0.47% or 120.60 points, to close at 25,694.95. Among the 30 Sensex constituents,

BEL
,
M&M
a & Mahindra,
ADANIPORTS
s,

Technologies,

s were the top gainers, appreciating between 1% and 2.5%. The IT sector rose 1.2%, buoyed by expectations of a U.S. government reopening, which improved investor confidence. Market participants anticipate that such a development could pave the way for clarity on the Federal Reserve’s rate stance, supporting growth prospects for export-oriented companies. Sentiment was further lifted by U.S. President Donald Trump’s statement that a trade agreement with India was “near completion.” In the broader market, mid-cap stocks gained 0.5%, while small-caps edged lower by 0.2%. Vodafone Idea surged 7.8% after posting a smaller-than-anticipated second-quarter loss, driven by increased adoption of higher-margin 4G and 5G plans. Conversely,
BAJFINANCE
tumbled 7.4% after revising down its asset growth outlook, citing a rise in non-performing loans and mounting competition in the consumer finance space. Investment in securities market are subject to market risks. Read all the related documents carefully before investing.
