Indian benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty closed lower on Monday, dragged by IT stocks, as renewed trade frictions between the U.S. and China dampened investor sentiment. The decline followed U.S. President Donald Trump’s fresh tariff threats after Beijing intensified restrictions on rare earth exports.
The S&P BSE Sensex dropped 173.77 points, or 0.21%, to close at 82,327.05, while the NSE Nifty 50 slipped 58 points, or 0.23%, to settle at 25,227.35.
