Market Watch: Sensex Fluctuates, Nifty Holds Above 25,100; GRASIM Rallies 3%, ASIANPAINT Slips 1%
Overview
Market Coverage: Indian equity indices were mixed in early trade, as profit-taking in financial counters offset positive cues stemming from ongoing U.S.-China trade discussions and accommodative signals from the Reserve Bank of India.
At the opening bell, most sectors traded in positive territory nine out of thirteen sectors recorded gains. However, banking and financial services witnessed mild pullbacks, while sectors like auto, IT, media, metals, and oil & gas posted gains, lending strength to broader market sentiment.
In Monday’s session, the domestic markets closed on a strong note. The Nifty climbed to its highest level in eight months, and the banking index touched a new intraday high, buoyed by an unexpected policy move from the RBI, robust U.S. employment figures, and favorable progress in U.S.-India trade talks.
