Market Wrap: Sensex climbs 208 points, Nifty holds above 25,900; Eternal jumps 5%, Tata Steel up 3%
Benchmark indices extended their upward momentum for the second consecutive session on Tuesday, driven by strong buying in auto and metal stocks, which boosted overall market sentiment. The broader market outperformed the benchmarks, with midcap and smallcap indices advancing by 0.5% and 0.35%, respectively.
The BSE Sensex gained 208 points to settle at 84,274, marking a rise of 0.25%, while the Nifty 50 added 68 points, or 0.26%, to close at 25,935.
Among Sensex constituents, Eternal surged over 5% to emerge as the top performer.
