Indian equities closed on a strong note Wednesday, with both the Sensex and Nifty recovering from early declines as renewed foreign fund inflows and a rebound in leading IT stocks bolstered overall sentiment. Infosys spearheaded the upswing, gaining momentum ahead of its ₹18,000-crore share repurchase programme kicking off on Thursday. The S&P BSE Sensex advanced 513 points (0.61%) to finish at 85,186.47, while the NSE Nifty 50 added 143 points (0.55%) to settle at 26,052.65. HCLTECH
Technologies,
INFY
,
TCS
,

, and
SUNPHARMA
, all of which rose between 1.5% and 4%. The IT pack was a clear outperformer, with the sector gaining nearly 3% and Infosys jumping 3.7% following the company’s announcement that its ₹18,000-crore buyback will commence on Thursday. Beyond the frontline indices, mid-cap shares ticked up 0.2%, whereas small-caps dipped 0.4%, reflecting a more cautious undertone across the broader market.
