Market Wrap: Sensex pares early losses to finish nearly unchanged; Nifty holds above 26,000 as Media, FMCG lead

Indian equity benchmarks recovered from early declines on Monday but settled marginally lower by the close, as subdued global cues continued to cap investor sentiment.
At the closing bell, the BSE Sensex ended at 85,213.36, down 54.30 points (0.06%), while the NSE Nifty 50 settled at 26,027.30, slipping 19.65 points (0.08%).
On the Sensex, , , , , , , , , , and led the declines. In contrast, HUL, Trent, HCL Technologies, Infosys, and Asian Paints provided limited support on the upside.
In the broader market, the Nifty Midcap index edged lower by 0.12%, while the Nifty Smallcap index outperformed, gaining 0.21%.
Sector-wise, Nifty Auto emerged as the worst performer, falling 0.91%, followed by Nifty Pharma, which declined 0.40%. Meanwhile, Nifty Media and Nifty FMCG outshone the rest, rising 1.79% and 0.69%, respectively.
