Indian equity markets opened on a positive note on May 19, supported by firm global cues and strong indications from GIFT Nifty, which signalled a higher start for domestic benchmarks. During early trade, optimism on Dalal Street lifted the BSE Sensex by over 320 points to around 75,669, while the Nifty 50 advanced nearly 78 points to trade close to 23,728. However, rising geopolitical tensions and profit booking at higher levels dragged indices lower in the latter half of the session, leading both benchmarks to close in negative territory.
