Markets dip — five main triggers behind today’s slide

Stock Market Snapshot The market opened weak and slipped from intraday gains as investors booked profits in a highly volatile session. Gains vanished as selling pressure emerged: the Sensex dropped around 400 points from its high, while the Nifty dipped below the 26,000 mark. The Sensex began the day down 156.83 points at 84,949.98, and the Nifty eased by 47 points to 25,938.95. Although both benchmarks recovered somewhat — the Sensex rising 369.80 points to 85,476.62, and the Nifty climbing 110.25 points to 26,096.25 — the overall trend remained shaky. Around midday, the Sensex hovered at 85,094.95 (down 11.86 points or 0.014%), while the Nifty slipped to 25,994.60 (down 8.60 points or 0.033%).
