Markets Turn Volatile as India-Pakistan Tensions Rise; Sensex Falls 200 Points, Nifty Slips Below 24,400
Benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty witnessed sharp volatility in early trade on Wednesday amid escalating geopolitical tensions following Indian armed forces’ missile strikes on terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK). The operation, codenamed 'Operation Sindoor', targeted nine locations, including Jaish-e-Mohammad’s base in Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba’s hub in Muridke. The strikes were carried out in response to the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 civilian lives two weeks ago.
