Nifty 50, Sensex Today: What to Expect from the Indian Stock Market on March 19 After US Fed Decision

Indian benchmark indices, the Nifty 50 and Sensex, are expected to begin Thursday’s session on a weak note, mirroring global market softness amid concerns over rising crude oil prices. Signals from Gift Nifty suggest a gap-down opening for the domestic indices. Gift Nifty was hovering near the 23,240 mark, reflecting a discount of near 536 points compared to the previous close of Nifty futures. Growing geopolitical tensions between the US and Iran, along with strikes on energy facilities in the Gulf region, have pushed crude oil prices above $100 per barrel. Market sentiment has also been weighed down after the US Federal Reserve held interest rates steady and cautioned that increasing energy costs may fuel inflationary pressures.
