Sensex and Nifty recover from early declines to trade flat. IT stocks remain under pressure, while metal stocks outperform.

Sectorally, the Nifty IT index plunged 5%, the Nifty Media index slipped 0.7%, whereas metal, infrastructure, oil & gas, and energy indices advanced nearly 1% each.
