Sensex Climbs 111 Points, Nifty Ends at 26,216; IT & Private Bank Stocks Advance
The headline index Nifty50 hit a fresh record high of 26,295.55, surpassing its earlier all-time peak of 26,277. After a subdued opening, the Indian equity market gained momentum on Thursday, with the Nifty 50 marking a new lifetime high. By 11 AM, after touching an intraday high of 86,055.86, the BSE Sensex was trading at 85,984.88, up 375.37 points (0.44%). The NSE Nifty50 climbed to 26,310.45, and was last seen trading at 26,296.90, higher by 91.60 points (0.35%). The broader market displayed a mixed but mildly positive sentiment, with the Nifty Midcap index rising 0.16%, while the Nifty Smallcap index added 0.07%. Among sectors, the Nifty Metal index emerged as the top performer, gaining 0.5%, followed by the Nifty Auto index, which advanced 0.35%.
