Sensex climbs over 480 points, Nifty closes near 25,350; India-EU trade pact boosts sentiment
Benchmark equity indices Sensex and Nifty ended Wednesday’s session on a strong note, extending their upward momentum from the previous day. The rally was supported by sustained buying interest, driven by optimism surrounding the proposed India–European Union free trade agreement, along with supportive global market cues. The BSE Sensex advanced 487.20 points, or 0.6 percent, to finish at 82,344.68. During intraday trade, the index touched a high of 82,503.97, gaining as much as 646.49 points or 0.78 percent. Meanwhile, the NSE Nifty added 167.35 points, or 0.66 percent, to settle at 25,342.75. Sectorally, energy, metals, and real estate stocks led the gains. Broader markets also participated in the rally, with midcap and smallcap indices recording healthy advances, indicating improved market breadth and a revival in risk-taking appetite.
