Indian equity benchmarks ended lower on Friday amid broad-based selling pressure, particularly in financial stocks, weak corporate earnings, and cautious global cues. The BSE Sensex declined 501 points, or 0.61%, to close at 81,757, while the NSE Nifty dropped 143 points, or 0.57%, settling at 24,968. Market sentiment remained subdued, dragging the total market capitalisation of BSE-listed companies down by ₹2.61 lakh crore to ₹458.26 lakh crore.
