Sensex gains 50 points, Nifty tops 25,750; PSU Bank and Realty stocks surge

Indian equities witnessed heightened volatility on Monday, oscillating sharply between gains and losses after opening on a subdued note. The benchmark indices — Sensex and Nifty — eased slightly following a robust rally in October, as weakness in private banking and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) counters weighed on overall sentiment. However, support from upbeat quarterly earnings and positive monthly automobile sales data helped limit the downside. A majority of sectoral indices traded in positive territory, driven by notable advances in public sector banks, real estate, and midcap segments. The financials, energy, and oil-related stocks also maintained an upward bias, whereas consumer durables, information technology, and FMCG stocks recorded modest declines. Overall, market sentiment remained optimistic, supported by broad-based sectoral participation. Investment in securities market are subject to market risks.
