Lead Declines

Benchmark indices opened on a weak note and remained under pressure throughout the session, ending the day in the red. Indian equity markets extended their losing streak for a fourth consecutive session, as sustained selling in IT, realty, pharma, and auto stocks dragged indices lower. At market close, the BSE Sensex settled 345 points lower, down 0.4%, while the NSE Nifty50 declined 100 points, also shedding 0.4%.

emerged as the top gainers for the day. On the downside, Adani Ports, HCL Tech, and Trent were among the biggest laggards. Meanwhile, GIFT Nifty was trading at 26,060, down 117 points at the time of reporting. Broader markets also witnessed weakness, with the BSE MidCap index falling 0.4% and the BSE SmallCap index slipping 0.5%. Except for the banking and telecom sectors, all other sectoral indices ended lower. Stocks in the power and realty sectors faced notable selling pressure.
