Sensex slips 250 points, Nifty falls below 26,100; SmallCaps lag; India VIX rises 3%
In the wider market space, the Nifty MidCap index eased 0.39%, while the Nifty SmallCap index declined 0.77%.
Indian equities traded in the red on Monday due to the absence of strong domestic cues. The BSE Sensex hovered near 85,398, down 314 points or 0.37%, whereas the Nifty50 stood at 26,088, slipping 98 points or 0.38%.

On the other hand, Eternal, Tech Mahindra, TCS, Tata Motors PV, Infosys, HCL Tech, Tata Steel, and Reliance Industries were among the prominent gainers.
In the broader market, the Nifty MidCap dipped 0.39%, while the Nifty SmallCap weakened by 0.77%.
Across sectors, Nifty Realty, PSU Bank, and Pharma were the weakest performers, slipping between 0.3% and 0.5%. Meanwhile, Nifty IT advanced 0.5%, followed by Nifty Metal with a 0.2% uptick.
