Sensex surges 583 pts, Nifty reclaims 25,050; TCS, jump 3% each
Indian equity benchmarks, the Sensex and Nifty, ended higher on Monday, propelled by gains in banking and financial majors following robust quarterly loan growth. IT counters also advanced ahead of key earnings announcements.
The S&P BSE Sensex climbed 582.95 points (0.72%) to close at 81,790.12, while the NSE Nifty 50 gained 183.40 points (0.74%) to settle at 25,077.65, moving past the 25,000 milestone.
Among the 30 Sensex constituents, TCS, Tech Mahindra, Axis Bank, Bajaj Finance, and Eternal were top performers, rallying between 2% and 3%.
Private sector banks advanced 1.2%, while financial stocks added 1.1% during the session. , the heaviest component of the Nifty 50, rose 0.9%, and Mahindra Bank gained 2% after both reported strong loan expansion for the September quarter. j Finance climbed 1.9% following a 24% year-on-year surge in assets under management (AUM) during the July–September period.
The Nifty IT index rose 2.3%, extending its recovery to 3.2% over the past three sessions, rebounding from earlier weakness linked to U.S. labor market concerns and steeper H-1B visa costs.
Broader markets also strengthened, with mid-cap shares up 0.9% and small-caps higher by 0.3%.
Tata Capital IPO Updates:
The Rs 15,512 crore IPO of Tata Capital, one of the biggest public issues of 2025, opened for bidding today and will remain available until Wednesday. The offer includes a Rs 6,846 crore fresh issue and an Rs 8,666 crore offer for sale by promoter Tata Sons, which currently owns 95.6% of the company. Ahead of its debut, the grey market premium (GMP) stood modestly at around 3% above the issue price.
