Stock Market Close: Sensex rises for a second straight session, finishing 568 points higher; Nifty hovers near 23,600; metal stocks lead the rally.

Indian benchmark indices advanced during the session, driven by gains in metal and auto shares, alongside supportive trends in other Asian markets. Sensex Today: Domestic equity benchmarks extended their rebound for a second consecutive day, despite choppy trading conditions and frequent shifts between positive and negative territory throughout the session. The Nifty50 climbed 0.74%, or 172.35 points, to close at 23,581.15, while the Sensex surged 568 points, or 0.75%, to settle at 76,070.84. Top performers on the Nifty50 included Eternal, Tata Steel, and Mahindra & Mahindra. Market volatility cooled significantly, with the India VIX dropping 9.12% during the session to 19.63, before ending 8.39% lower at 19.79. The broader market also closed strongly in positive territory, as the Nifty MidCap index gained 1.07% and the Nifty SmallCap index added 0.78%. On the sectoral front, Nifty Metal and Nifty Auto emerged as the top gainers, while Nifty IT and Nifty FMCG were the biggest underperformers. Global Cues : Asia-Pacific markets edged higher, following overnight gains on Wall Street, while oil prices stayed volatile. Japan’s Nikkei 225 rose 0.30% and South Korea’s Kospi gained 2.53%. US markets closed positive, with the S&P 500 up 1.01%, Dow Jones rising 0.83%, and Nasdaq climbing 1.22%. Brent crude fell 2.84% to $100.21 earlier amid supply assurances, but later rebounded करीब 2.9% to $103.06 on renewed concerns over potential disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz.
