Stock Market Highlights:
Sensex closes 137 pts higher, Nifty tops 25,100; Divi’s Labs jumps 5%, BAJAJHLDNG up 3%.
Indian equity benchmarks Sensex and Nifty extended their winning streak to a fourth session on Tuesday, supported by strength in major financial counters. Overall sentiment remained positive amid optimism over the Reserve Bank of India’s new lending policy reforms and encouraging corporate updates ahead of Q2 (September-quarter) earnings.
The S&P BSE Sensex advanced 136.63 points, or 0.17%, to close at 81,926.75, while the NSE Nifty 50 added 30.65 points, or 0.12%, ending at 25,108.30.
The broader market indices also edged higher, with the mid-cap index gaining 0.4% and the small-cap index rising 0.6%.
Financials climbed 0.5%, marking a sixth consecutive day of gains, buoyed by strong loan growth in Q2 and confidence after the RBI eased lending norms for capital markets and large corporates.
