: India’s benchmark indices, Nifty and BSE Sensex, finished in the green on Friday, marking their second consecutive advance. Investors maintained optimism in banking, consumer, and metal counters even as the indices largely moved within a range. Volatility gauge India VIX slipped 1.6%, indicating a steady trading session. Nifty gains 58 points, Sensex adds 220, supported by strength in banking and consumer stocks for a back-to-back rise. At the close, the broader Nifty settled at 24,894.25, up 57.95 points (0.23%), while the 30-share Sensex ended at 81,207.17, advancing 223.86 points (0.28%). Market breadth on the Nifty was slightly skewed towards sellers, with 26 shares closing higher against 24 in the red. Major Nifty gainers included Tata Steel, Power Grid Corporation, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Axis Bank, and Larsen & Toubro (L&T), while laggards comprised Max Healthcare Institute, Eicher Motors, Coal India, Tech Mahindra, and Maruti Suzuki. In the broader market, stocks such as Atlantaa, V2 Retail, and Baazar Style Retail (backed by Rekha Jhunjhunwala) witnessed significant moves on company-specific triggers and Q2 updates. Of the 17 Nifty sectoral indices, 14 closed positive while 3 ended in the red. Nifty Auto dipped 0.06%, Nifty Realty slipped 0.12%, and Nifty Healthcare declined 0.22%. On the gaining side, Nifty Metal, Nifty PSU Bank, and Nifty Consumer Durables rose 1.8%, 1.12%, and 1.09%, respectively.
