Stock Market Highlights: Sensex Drops 829 Points to Close at 76,034; Nifty Settles at 23,639

Indian stock markets witnessed heightened volatility, with benchmark indices ending sharply lower amid weak global cues. Signaling a gap-down start for both Nifty 50 and Sensex. The domestic benchmarks extended their decline for a second straight session, finishing significantly lower as escalating geopolitical tensions and surging crude oil prices dampened investor sentiment. The BSE Sensex tumbled 829 points (1.08%) to close at 76,034.42, while the NSE Nifty 50 slipped 228 points (0.95%) to settle at 23,639.15. On the sectoral front, Auto, FMCG, and Financial stocks were among the biggest drags on the market. Heavyweight counters such as

ICICIBANK
and
M&M
weighed on the indices, whereas a few stocks including NTPC and Coal India managed to remain resilient and trade in positive territory. Earlier in the day, Indian equities opened sharply lower on Thursday, influenced by global concerns linked to the prolonged Iran–US conflict and the rise in Brent crude oil prices. During early trade, the Sensex plunged nearly 1,000 points, opening at 76,369 compared with the previous close of 76,863. Meanwhile, the Nifty 50 began the session at 23,674, down 192 points (0.80%) from its previous closing level of 23,866. Investment in securities market are subject to market risks.
