Synopsis: Indian Stock Market Holiday Today: Both the NSE and BSE have released updated circulars confirming the market closure. The BSE announced that equity derivatives contracts that were earlier set to expire on January 15 have now been preponed to January 14. Indian stock exchanges—the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE)—will stay closed today, January 15, owing to the municipal corporation elections taking place across Maharashtra. All trading activities across segments such as equities, equity derivatives, commodity derivatives, and electronic gold receipts will be halted for the day. Both exchanges issued revised notifications to formally announce the holiday. Additionally, the BSE stated that the expiry date for equity derivatives contracts, initially scheduled for January 15, has been advanced to January 14.
