Market Overview: Indian equity benchmarks opened on a subdued note Thursday, following a sharp correction in the previous session driven by weak global cues. The

BSE
Sensex slipped 54.99 points to open at 80,897.00, while the NSE Nifty edged up 29.80 points to start the day at 24,639.50. Market Breadth: In early trade, market breadth remained negative with 823 stocks in the Nifty pack trading in the green, while 1,271 were in the red. 85 stocks were unchanged, indicating mixed investor sentiment. Sectoral & Broader Market Action: Despite the flat start on the benchmark indices, broader markets showed resilience. The BSE Smallcap and BSE Midcap indices opened in positive territory, each rising over 150 points in early trade, reflecting strength in mid- and small-cap segments. Previous Close Recap: On Wednesday, the Sensex had settled at 80,951.99, while the Nifty closed at 24,609.70, both down sharply due to global market volatility and concerns over U.S. fiscal policy developments.
