. The Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex oscillated between gains and losses throughout the session, as sustained buying in information technology stocks was offset by selling pressure in banking and financial counters. A resurgence of foreign fund inflows on Wednesday lifted sentiment at the opening bell, but the upward momentum gradually tapered off by midday. During the session, the Nifty moved within a 0.3% range on either side, while the Sensex swung nearly 0.4% between its intraday high and low. By the close, the Nifty 50 edged up 14 points to settle at 25,496.55, whereas the BSE Sensex slipped 27 points to finish at 82,248.61. HDFC Bank emerged as the biggest drag on the frontline indices. In sectoral performance, IT stocks extended their previous session’s rally, with the Nifty IT index climbing 1.5% intraday. On the NSE, defence, pharmaceutical, and PSU bank stocks registered gains, while media, FMCG, and financial stocks ended marginally lower. Investment in securities market are subject to market risks.
