Market Highlights: Indian equity benchmarks closed in the red on Thursday as crude oil prices moved higher. The surge in oil came following fresh concerns over ceasefire violations involving the US. Just a day earlier, oil had eased to around $95 per barrel after a temporary two-week truce between the US and Iran. The BSE Sensex opened Thursday’s session at 77,319.33, declining 243.57 points (0.31%). Meanwhile, the NSE Nifty50 began trading at 23,909.05, down 88.30 points (0.37%). Selling pressure intensified through the session, dragging both indices lower. By the close, Sensex ended at 76,631.65, plunging 931.25 points, while Nifty50 settled at 23,775.10, losing 222.25 points.
