Energy Shares Slide 4.5% as Q1 Results Disappoint; CFO Resigns

SUZLON
Energy shares dropped nearly 4.5% to ₹60.32 on Wednesday, August 13, after its Q1 FY26 earnings fell short of market expectations, despite notable growth in revenue. The company reported a 54% year-on-year rise in consolidated revenue to ₹3,117 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2025, up from ₹2,016 crore a year ago—driven by a 67% surge in wind turbine revenue at ₹2,496 crore. Revenue from the foundry and forgings segment also rose to ₹149 crore from ₹91 crore. Net profit increased 7.2% YoY to ₹324 crore, but plunged 72% sequentially due to a one-time ₹600 crore write-back in the previous quarter, which had boosted profits to ₹1,180 crore. Operationally, EBITDA jumped 60% to ₹585 crore, aided by a positive inventory adjustment of ₹550 crore. EBITDA margin improved by 70 basis points to 18.78%. However, revenue declined 18% quarter-on-quarter from ₹3,773 crore. Adding to investor concerns, Suzlon announced the resignation of CFO Himanshi Mody, who joined the company in 2021. A replacement has not yet been named. At last check, Suzlon shares were trading at ₹60.43, down 4.28% on the NSE.
