Today Sensex falls over 300 points, Nifty near 24,300; !ZEE gains 7%

Indian benchmark indices remained under pressure on Friday, with the Sensex declining more than 300 points and the Nifty trading around 24,300 amid widespread selling across sectors. The Sensex was down 319 points at 77,761, while the Nifty slipped 76 points to 24,320. Market breadth remained weak, with around 1,636 stocks advancing, while nearly 2,009 stocks declined. Sectoral performance Metal stocks emerged as the biggest drag, with the sectoral index declining more than 1 point. IT stocks also witnessed notable selling pressure, while PSU banks and oil & gas stocks traded lower. Consumer durables bucked the broader weakness and remained among the few sectors in positive territory. Broader market under pressure The broader market also remained weak, with midcap and smallcap indices witnessing declines of more than half a point. The overall market breadth remained negative, indicating wider selling pressure beyond the frontline indices. !ZEE in focus !ZEE Entertainment Enterprises gained around 7% after the Securities Appellate Tribunal (SAT) stayed the SEBI order, providing relief to the company and triggering buying interest in the stock.
