Coal India Aims to Achieve 875 MT Output in FY26 Despite Weather-Driven Shortfalls
⛏️ COALINDIA’s new CMD, Sanoj Kumar Jha, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to its FY26 production target of 875 million tonnes, despite missing goals in September and October due to heavy monsoon impact. Output dropped 9.8% YoY to 56.4 MT in October and 48.97 MT in September. Jha emphasized that while demand from the power sector has been softer, Coal India — which contributes over 80% of India’s coal supply — remains confident of meeting industry requirements with improved stock levels versus last year. He also noted that the framework for a proposed coal exchange is expected to be finalized within six months.
